                                 Yew crag thirlmere

As can be seen in the map above, Yew Crag is situated north of Thirlmere. Aircraft fly over the lake then make a left turn and over towards Keswick, from this location you can expect to capture side on shots of the aircraft are low enough and bottom shots if they are slightly higher. This is a perfect location to capture head on shots of the larger aircraft such as Hercules, should it be low enough.

To reach this location park near the dual carriageway on the side road that leads to the Triangle at the foot of Raven crag. Walk over the road and go through the gate, then follow the track left and upwards until you go through a gate then head upwards further for 20 yards then steer left towards the tree. From the tree carry on the same line until you reach the crags at the cliff edge, at this location you shall be able to shelter yourself from the wind in every direction except south, which is the direction you should be looking towards.
